Pretty amazing isn’t it—this ever evolving and changing means of telecommunication! From hand, flag and smoke signals that could not be seen beyond the horizon, telecommunications has miraculously evolved into an instantaneous worldwide network.

Since I stumbled into my love affair with telecommunications in 1995, I have seen unbelievable changes take place. What in other times would have taken a century or even centuries to develop, spread and become commonplace—can now happen within the blink of an eye.

It took nearly a 100 years for the telephone to become a widespread, indispensable and universal means to communicate.

Email did it in a little more than two decades and smart phones have smashed all records—going worldwide in just the past five years.

This infographic brings home these dramatic changes that have increased the interconnectivity of our world.
