Are you wondering how to do a webinar? If so you have come to the right place. Webinar leaders can reach hundreds of thousands of people, but its like herding cats (see video at the end of this post). Each participant comes with a different set of expectations and attention span. Instead of being checked in with you they could be checking out their emails, writing a blog post, tweeting, eating a sandwich, taking phone calls, or reading the online edition of the New York Time. How do you keep their attention?
Here are 5 ways:
- Have two or three different speakers who are experts in the different areas under consideration. Be sure that everyone rehearses their presentations on your webinar service. This allows them to become familiar with just how all the tools work, and to know exactly what controls are at their fingertips.
- In preparing your power point presentation make sure you include videos, graphics etc. At the same time keep in mind that “less is more”. Your audience will not handle too much willingly or because it is beyond their capacity to take in large amounts of complex information.
- Use the whiteboard to draw on and to highlight key points or aspects of a drawing etc.
- Ask questions and take polls.
- Take questions but be ready for no questions.
